Can You Play With Friends Right Now?

Truck World: Australia multiplayer is a key consideration if you're buying the game for a convoy with friends. The current Xbox Game Preview supports single-player. The October 4, 2024 development plan targeted four-player co-op, so keep that planned feature separate from what you can play today.

That plan focused on a small cooperative experience, with no plans for a full multiplayer mode. Four-player co-op describes the intended group size; it doesn't give you a reason to buy extra copies for a shared session in the current build.

Buy the current Game Preview for solo trucking. If driving together is the deciding factor for your group, wait for an update that actually introduces co-op before organizing a session.

Xbox and Steam Have Different Release Timelines

The Xbox Game Preview launched on November 5, 2026, while the Steam release is scheduled for 2027. Steam also identifies the game as single-player, so its later release date shouldn't be read as a promise of cooperative play.

The Xbox version supports Xbox Series X|S and PC, along with Xbox Play Anywhere and cloud saves. Cloud play requires a game purchase and an eligible Xbox Game Pass subscription.

Those features serve different purposes:

  • Xbox Play Anywhere concerns access across supported Xbox and PC platforms.
  • Cloud saves support your saved progress.
  • Cloud play provides another way to access the game.
  • Co-op would let players share a gameplay session.

Choose your platform around the version you want to play now. You can view Truck World: Australia Game Preview on Xbox or wishlist the upcoming Steam release.

What You Can Do in the Solo Early Access Game

Early Access includes the Eyre Peninsula with 9 towns, one player-owned truck, truck upgrades, and the first two base upgrades. The first two story missions are also playable.

The trucking work includes hands-on tasks outside the cab:

  • Refuel your truck manually.
  • Connect trailers and operate their equipment.
  • Deliver full trailers.
  • Carry individual cargo loads on your own flat-top trailer.

The handcrafted content takes approximately 3 hours, while repeatable delivery contracts provide dozens of additional hours of driving. Continue with those contracts after the story missions if hauling cargo is what keeps you behind the wheel.

Early Access updates are included with your purchase, including version 1.0. Major updates can require a new save because of technical changes, so keep that possibility in mind before committing to a long solo career.
