What Is First Haul?
Truck World: Australia First Haul puts you behind the wheel for two free missions in the Australian outback. This standalone prologue gives you a short introduction to the truck’s handling and the game’s core mechanics. It’s a way to try the driving before spending money on the larger Early Access game.
Developed by Truck World Studio and published by HypeTrain Digital, First Haul focuses on a small slice of the trucking experience. You’ll make deliveries and explore an Australian environment, with driving at the center of the experience.
First Haul is the free prologue; Truck World: Australia is the separate paid game. That distinction matters when choosing a download, especially now that the larger game has entered Early Access on several platforms.
Release Dates, Platforms, and the Free Download
The prologue launched on Steam on June 3, 2025. Its Xbox and Microsoft Store release followed on August 19, 2025.

You can download First Haul for PC or Xbox Series X|S. That version is free, supports single-player play, includes Xbox cloud saves, and is optimized for Xbox Series X|S.
The release timeline separates three different launches:
- June 3, 2025: The free prologue launched on Steam.
- August 19, 2025: First Haul arrived on Xbox and Microsoft Store.
- November 5, 2026: The paid game entered Early Access on Xbox, Microsoft Store, and Epic Games Store.
The paid game’s Steam release is scheduled for 2027. You can wishlist Truck World: Australia on Steam if that’s where you want to play.
What to Try During the Two Missions
Use the prologue’s two missions to get familiar with the truck’s handling and controls. Its launch features included multiple transmission configurations, improved physics, and changes to sound and controls developed through playtesting.

A July 3, 2025 update brought further improvements to truck handling and physics. That update matters if your impression of the prologue comes from its original launch build.
Try the available transmission configurations during your deliveries to compare how they change the driving experience. Keep the prologue’s scope in mind: it’s a short introduction built around two missions, while the paid game expands into more hauling work and route planning.
What the Paid Early Access Game Adds
Truck World: Australia launched in Early Access at $29.99 in the United States. Its starting region takes inspiration from South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula, where ports, farms, and local industries provide hauling work between towns.

The larger game extends the job beyond driving. You can leave the cab to hitch trailers, connect hoses, refuel, and service your truck by hand. Routes include highways and off-road driving, with left-hand traffic forming part of the Australian setting.
Cargo planning also plays a larger role. You can accept extra orders, combine deliveries, and pick up additional cargo along the route. Plan compatible deliveries together to make fuller use of your trailer and earn more from a run.
Drivable road trains are planned for a future update and are absent from the initial Early Access release. If pulling multiple trailers is your main reason to buy, wait for the update that introduces them.
